From a Casual Day to a Hot Date Night

I don’t know what your plans for Valentine’s Day are, but if you’re a parent and 9 months pregnant with an awful cold, I’ll tell you what mine is going to consist of:

A four course meal with salad, soup, then a shot of Robitussin, and some break and bake Valentine’s cookies I make with Hallen. We’ll then follow up our sexy meal with some Netflix and a box of tissues (for blowing my nose or wiping my tears if we watch “This is Us). Ha! Oh! And hoping I go into labor of course 🙂

I’ve never been too into Valentine’s Day, but I do usually love a good meal either made in or out somewhere. Doesn’t have to be too fancy. I’m just not feeling up for it this year! And a cozy night in with just the three of us (while it still is just the three of us) sounds amazing! Even if my drink of the night is alcohol in the form of medicine.

If we were going out tonight, I’d definitely be wearing my LBD from Ingrid & Isabel that feels so good on this 9 month pregnant belly. Over the weekend, we didn’t have anything planned, so we had some great family time followed by a family date night. So, I did get to wear my LBD even if it wasn’t on the designated day to show your love.

We even had weather close to 80 degrees!! What?! That made it even better. And don’t look too closely, or you’ll see my Frozen bandaid on my heel under my Melissa flats. Another sign, I’m a mom, huh? This is such a comfortable dress, though! And it made me feel put together without needing to do anything else!

Hallen even wore her Valentine’s colors out and about around town with her Mini Melissa’s (so, I guess you could say we were slightly matching). And I got my new Fawn Design bag in (yes…I now have three if you were keeping tally). Perfect timing for this red and pink holiday!

After spending some family time outside with nothing on the agenda except each other, I changed into my heels for our family date night! Sometimes, you just want to feel fancy even if you can’t see your shoes when you look down. Just knowing you have your fancy feet on, makes you forget about the unpleasantries of the last couple weeks of pregnancy.

So, I put on my platform heels, and my forever Valentine took his two girls out for burgers 🙂 It was the perfect non-Valentine’s Valentine’s Day yet.

Just remember that Valentine’s Day isn’t about having the perfect February 14th with the person you’ve made up in your head. It’s about all the little loves in your life. The beauty of the sunrise and sunset; The sound of your child’s laugh; The sunbeams cascading across your hardwood floors; The crunch of the leaves under your footstep; Hugging your best friend, and sharing a memorable story; Cozying up under your blanket and reading a good book. Whatever you’re doing tonight, have so much fun. I hope you’re surrounded by love and not feeling like you’re missing out.
