Weekend Recap: Carowinds and Easter Egg Hunt

It was a low key and high key weekend all the same. We had so much fun family and friend time, even though we didn’t quite make it to every event we wanted to. Hazel starts to get cranky at 6 every night, so sometimes it’s just easier to go home and watch Netflix rather than trying to do it all, ya know!?

Friday night was the opening night for Carowinds season pass holders. And it was a blast! Last year, Hallen hated going on rides. We would buy her tickets to every carnival we went to, but she just cried once she got to the front of the line. So, I was nervous and excited all the same once we walked through the gates. It was the four of us and my parents, and we were all giddy driving up to the gates. Once we found a parking spot, got our passes, and went through security, we headed straight for Camp Snoopy (the children’s rides). The airplanes were Hallen’s first ride. And boy did she light up once it started going! I was so excited just watching her fly up high! And so happy she got past her last year’s fear of riding rides.

She came off of the airplane bouncing, screaming, and ready for more! Next was the swings. Luckily we got there when lines were still pretty short, but just about this time, all the season pass people started showing up!

So, after the swings, we only did one more ride, and it was the boats. She got to go on this one with my mom, but was in front of one of her best friends, so when the boats spun around they got to see each other! I was a little nervous about this one, because the boats are pretty jerky when they spin, and they go up and down really fast, but she laughed the entire time! So glad we have a little girl who loves rides. If you don’t like rides in our family, you get the boot!

I can’t wait to go back for more fun over the summer. Hallen’s going to want to be there every day!

Saturday, we just had a lazy day, and then a friend’s birthday party at night. It was a nice, chill day!

But on Sunday, Hallen had her Easter egg hunt after church! We got her a yellow basket, so like the natural organizer she is, she would only pick up yellow eggs.

I kept telling her to just pick up al the ones that she could, but nope. Girlfriend knew what she was doing. In her world, everything has to match!

There was also fun face painting, a little petting zoo, moon bounces, and fun games. Y’all, she was so excited to play with all of her friends, and just participate in everything. It’s so cool getting to see her grow up and come out of her shell. Every day, I get to see a little more of what she’s going to be like when she’s older.

One of my favorite things she does right now is just telling me how much she loves me, and that she wants to cuddle. Last year, she wasn’t a cuddler and you had to pry the “I love you” words out of her! This year, she may be a little feistier, but she’s also so much fun! I know  you mamas probably agree. Your kids may drive you bananas, but when you get to see them experience what life has to offer, and they take it by the horns, there’s absolutely no where else you’d rather be. I get the greatest joy just watching them be who they are!

What’d you guys get into this weekend? Do you have any theme parks close by that you go to?

These rides look so much fun. No surprise that she would enjoy it. Very cute that she only wanted to pick up the yellow eggs. Yellow is a happy color.
