Anti-Aging in a Dress with Mott 50

anti-aging-in-a-dress-with-mott-50

The days just keep getting better here in the south (except the impending Saturday that’ll only be 44 degrees…but we won’t speak about that). So, as well as sprucing up the inside with new plants, we’ve been planning out what to do in our yard too. And like I’ve said before, neither one of us have a green thumb. We don’t want to dig holes in the ground and plant stuff. It’s just not our thing. But, we do want a pretty yard. So, last weekend, we went to one of our local nurseries to take a stroll around. I love looking at new flowers and plants. Even if I have no clue what to do with them, they just make me happy! And Hallen kept running around, dragging me to look at all the different trees outside. And she thought the lawn ornaments were all toys to play with!

And since I was wearing my long “princess dress,” she had to wear hers too! The amazing thing about my “princess dress” from Mott50 is that it has UPF 50 protection. Y’all, that’s built in anti aging right there! I carry by Beautycounter sunscreen and face stick with me everywhere for the same reason I’ll be in Mott50 clothes all summer. Protection! I used to love the sun. Love the burn. Love the tan. But now, I look back on those days, and cry a little. My age spots are showing up, my wrinkles are filling in, and I can just see the damage that I did. Did you guys know that sun damage is THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF PREMATURE AGING?!? If I would have really known I was going to age (and want botox before 30 because of sun damage) when I was younger, I would have cut it out, but now, all I can do is prevent more damaging sun exposure.

The first time I slipped into this dress, it was love at first sight. It’s a bamboo/spandex blend, and bamboo is my FAVORITE material. All of my girls’ favorite swaddles are made of bamboo. Super soft, comfortable, and holds it’s shape well.

And to be honest, I was a little nervous about the “see through-ness” of this since it’s white, but I was wearing some pastel undies (sorry if that’s TMI), and I couldn’t see a thing! I know that’s an issue for a lot of our clothes in the summer, so I figured it was worth mentioning.

I also ended up knotting the front and the back of the dress while we were walking around. I’m 5’8″, and it did drag the ground slightly, and I didn’t want it to get dirty, so if you’re a little shorter than I am, you may need a slight hem, but it won’t alter the look or wearability of this at all. You could also just keep it long to pair with a cute pair of wedges!

While we were walking around, looking at the indoor plants, Hallen found the exact flower that was on her floral dress, so she wanted a little photoshoot😜. When we go back with our plan in hand, we’re definitely letting her pick out a few flowers or plants to take care of as her own. I’m hoping she has my grandmother’s green thumb that hasn’t been passed down to anyone yet! It has to land on her, right?!

With my skin already showing signs of sun damage, I really want to educate and protect my girls from the harmful rays, because on average, children get three times more exposure than adults.  I want them to want to wear sunscreen through their teen years. I want them to want to wear protective clothing. I hope it just becomes a part of their daily ritual like brushing their teeth! And the great thing is, Mott50 has an adorable children’s line. It ranges from babies to size 10! The girls got some adorable matching suits that they’ll be showing off later ☺.

So, just as I try and educate people about the products you use on your skin with Beautycounter,  Mott50 educates consumers on what to wear and why you need to wear protective clothing, especially during the warmer months. It’s your health. It’s your children’s health. Invest in a few key pieces that you know are easy for those on the go days. Chase the sun without fear!
