Winnie Mae’s Nursery

Here we are…nearly four months later, and we finally have a nursery ready for little Winnie Mae. I love creating new spaces for my girls, but I can’t get to them as quickly as I used to. For those of you who have lots of little ones in your house, I’m sure you know how that goes. The first kid’s nursery is ready at least one month before they come if not three months early! And the more you have, the slower you get to it, and you don’t feel one ounce bad about it, because you know it’s really more for you than them. They’d be fine with a little crib stuck in the corner with spit up all over the sheets!

I always explain my need to decorate to my husband like this…my home is my workplace. I need it to be aesthetically pleasing since I work here 24/7. It needs to be pretty and clean. I think that’s pretty reasonable!

Winnie’s nursery may be my favorite girl’s room I’ve done yet. And it may have something to do with the feature wall. The wallpaper from Rocky Mountain Decals is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. It makes me want to wall paper my whole house. The colors are earthy and subtle, and the design is so vintage and dreamy.

I’ve had lots of questions about how hard it is to put up, so I’ll lay it all out here. I didn’t put it up…my amazing hubby did! Although, I did help him smooth out some spots and make sure it was lined up correctly. He gave it a 2 or a 3 out of 10 on a scale of difficulty, and said the most difficult part was just lining it up correctly. The fact that it’s self adhesive is probably the best part about it! And the panels come numbered, so you know the order they go in.

This room is probably my favorite in the house now. I think I may always say that about the nurseries we create, but there’s just something about a tiny little babe’s room that just gives you all the feels! And the colors in this nursery just feel like me…or maybe the opposite of me. It brings me calm when I need it!

Winnie also got a new crib, which I just adore. All of the girls have had different cribs now, but this is actually the first new one. The first one we had for Hallen was a hand me down, Hazel’s came from Craigslist, and now Winnie’s is from Delta Children. It’s the Middleton 4-in-1, which is great! Now she has a bed for when she’s a little older too. The older two girls have twin beds from Delta Children, so I knew we’d love the crib.

She also lucked out and got a new mattress from Bundle of Dreams. Y’all…it’s like a piece of heaven on earth. Maybe I just didn’t know what crib mattresses could be like since the other girls had an older hand-me-down, but this one is AMAZING! And it’s really lightweight, which I love. It’s made without all the yucky stuff that you can find in mattresses these days as well. There are no ozone depletes, PBDEs, TDCPP, or TCEP flame retardants. There are also no heavy metals and zero VOC. I could go on and on. Basically, it’s made with organic air ha! It really is a cloud! And hello, the mattress cover zips on and off. If  you knew how much my baby spits up, you’d want something easy to clean as well.

So, Winnie isn’t quite in her nursery yet. We’re working on Hallen and Hazel sleeping in the same room right now. Still tough nights, but I know we’ll get there. We may end up moving a crib to their room as well so that Hazel will stay contained! Last night, we did have to pull the pack in play out, so she’d settle down.

I think it’s safe to say, though, that everyone loves to hang out in Winnie’s nursery. When Hazel was in there, we had the crib centered differently, so this time, I centered it exactly on the wall instead of in between the window and the overhang on the ceiling, and I like it so much more. It opens the room up, and creates a little place space by the window.

I can’t wait to see Winnie in here. It’s always bittersweet when they move out of your room completely, but ultimately, I know it helps all of us sleep better.

We were blessed to work with so many shops to create her beautiful space, and I know their pieces would create a calming room in your home too. Another gorgeous piece is from Mod Wood Co. We have lots of her signs all around our house, because I’m a little obsessed. I had asked a lot of you if I should put anything behind her crib or just leave the wallpaper as is, and I was leaning towards just wallpaper, but having the simplicity of just her name seriously finished the space for me. I don’t think anything else needs to go in here! Maybe I’ll move my own bed in here and she can have my master suite instead 😂

Here are the shops that we either partnered with or already had for Winnie to create this beautiful nursery.
