The Price of Your Motherhood

What were you like before you had a child or started trying to get pregnant? I can distinctly remember being fun, flirty, and outgoing. I didn’t know what anxiety was like. My mom had told me she had struggled with anxiety some, and I…

Must Haves for Baby

I’d like to think I kind of knew what someone needed for a baby once you welcome them into the world. Now that I’ve had two, I have a grasp on what’s necessary and what you an do without for at least…

Why Can’t My Mustache Fall Out?

The postpartum shed has started. Y’all… this is the worst part of “recovery” for me. It happened at the exact same time with Hallen too. So, I’m hoping it’ll stop at 6 months as well. I feel like my hairline recedes five…

Hazel’s Nursery

I’ve wanted to share Hazel’s nursery with you guys for a while now, but I just don’t quite feel like it’s finished yet! The reality is, though, that I’ll probably be putting those finishing touches on it later this year…

Spit Up With a Side of Guilt

Y’all..this week I leave to go on my first ever “momcation.” I never left Hallen for an extended period of time when she was a baby, because I just couldn’t leave her side, and well…she needed me! I felt guilty leaving…

What Makes You Smile?

Life is so hectic these days. Kids are no joke with how busy they make you! I definitely understand why people have always said “kids keep you young.” You’re constantly on your toes (literally and figuratively), and there are no two days alike…

Comfort + Practicality with Bravado

What’s the first thing you do once you get home from being out for a while? Whether that be going to work or just hanging out with friends…Mine has always been to take off my bra, and put some comfortable clothes on. Even…

Why Beautycounter?

Why Beautycounter? Why did I start selling something? I didn’t have to. It’s not like I applied for a job, and sent in my resume. Why in the world would anyone join a direct sales company? It’s scammy. It’s fake. It…

The Big Gender Reveal

Since we found out that we were pregnant, we knew I knew that I wanted to get to know who ever was growing inside of me before he or she was born. Kevin on the other hand wanted it to be a surprise at first. I finally got him to come around (hey, this little one is growing inside of me, right) and join the good side. After many people praying for us for over a year to be able to have children, we wanted the village who would raise this peanut to find out who they’d be raising…

Looong Time No See

So…This post is looong overdue. I’ll cut straight to the point, so there’s no wondering. Since my last post in March, we became pregnant!! We found out April 2. A day I’ll never forget. That night, we went ahead and shared the news with Kevin’s parents and sister. We had a nice dinner out with them celebrating their anniversary, so nothing was suspected. We gave them a bottle of wine with an Easter egg tied around the top. Kevin’s dad politely said, “thanks.” So, we had to nudge the two of them to open…

Equipping and Scattering

There are two things that have truly allowed me to look past my circumstances that I’m going through right now and hold on to any sense of hope right now. One is our little puppy Zoe. I know I sound like a crazy cat lady, but it’s amazing what an animal can do for your life. It’s a little ball of therapy every time she comes to lay on my lap on her back just wanting to be cuddled and have her tummy scratched. She just needs to be touching you. Just your toe. (She’s a…

I Doubt It

The Lord replied: “Look, and be amazed! You will be astounded at what I am about to do! For I am going to do something in your own lifetime that you will have to see to believe.” Habakkuk 1:5There are so many doubts in our lives that crowd out any sort of hope. Especially us women as believers! I do it almost every day. I doubted myself able to do something today! Whether I can actually accomplish it is yet to be seen, but before I even set out to do it, I told myself I could not possibly…

If…Then…?

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility he…

14″Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.” Philippians 2:14-15I remember road trips when I was younger in my mom’s minivan. That green plymouth was such a space of comfort in my younger years. It was a safe haven. Good memories, comfortable seats, great company, and the cassette player always had some kind of kiddie Christian tunes pumping out of the speakers. The one song that I particularly remember, and…

Not Drowning

17 “He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. 18 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. 19 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. 20 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.” 2 Samuel 22:17-20This has always been one of my favorite passages in the Bible. It has brought me through some of the toughest places in my life. I’ve…

Snow Day Investment

It’s going to sound weird, but a snow day is something I’ve actually been praying for! For the world to stop…just one day. Take a chill pill. Not worry about numbers being hit and dollars being made. We get so caught up in making checks balance and putting in overtime so that we can rise up in our jobs and look great to our bosses, be told “well done,” pay the bills, feed our extravagant lifestyles. Lately, I can’t do that. The pressure the world puts on us to perform is so overwhelming that it feels…
